Bored at night, made a fake fast food ad, cracked myself up

Closed up shop for the night with nothing to do, so on a whim I had it generate a poster for a completely made-up fast food limited-time item, dead serious style, colors, fonts, mouth-watering close-ups, all of it. The more serious it looked the funnier it got. Turns out to really pass as a real ad, making the food look tasty isn’t enough — the key is that whole ad-copy layout vibe, big headline crammed at the top, price tag in the corner, “limited time” banner — those cliché elements are actually the soul of it, take them out and it just doesn’t hit the same.

Food close-ups are its strong suit, the grease-shine and steam are laid on thick, honestly looks delicious.

It’s that “obviously fake but dead serious about it” absurdity that’s addictive, I sat there cracking up at my own work for ages after. Anyone else into making this kind of straight-faced fake stuff? Let’s talk about how to nail that ad-copy vibe.

Haha I get it, the more serious the funnier :joy:

That line about ad-copy layout being the soul is spot on

So good, want to make one too

Those cliché limited-time tags are really the essence, dying

It’s really good at the grease-shine and steam part

Stack enough cheesy elements and it actually lands. Add a crossed-out original price next to the limited-time badge, sells it even more.
