Built out my own base model list, checkpoint to upscaler all in one

Been messing with ComfyUI for over half a year and my model folder was a total mess, so I finally sorted it all by category. Checkpoints, the Flux stuff, various LoRAs, ControlNet, VAE, plus the upscalers you use to finish off a render — basically got everything you need for the whole pipeline organized. Biggest takeaway from doing this: don’t hoard.

Keep two or three that run smoothly for each direction and that’s enough, delete the rest after you’ve tried them if you’re not using them, otherwise digging through your folder becomes more work than actually generating images. VAE and upscalers are the finishing pieces people tend to overlook, but they actually matter a lot for how the final image looks — mismatch one and you get washed-out colors or mushy detail.

One tip: check the link is still alive and the file matches the version before you download, so you don’t find out it’s mismatched halfway through. How do you all organize your model library?

saving this, my model folder is already a disaster

agreed on not hoarding, keeping the ones that run smooth beats everything

the VAE point is so real, mismatch one and the whole image goes gray

That gray-out issue took me all night to debug, turned out VAE just wasn’t loaded :man_facepalming:
