Just saw the news that ComfyUI dropped a desktop version,主打 one-click install, no more messing around with command lines and environment setup. I came from coding to drawing, so setting up environments isn’t hard for me, but I’ve got a few friends who are pure art majors—half of them got scared off just trying to get a working ComfyUI up and running.
Back when I tried teaching people, just explaining Python versions, dependencies, and paths could take an entire afternoon. A lot of folks got stuck at step one and never opened it again. If the desktop version really is install-and-go, that’s great for onboarding new users—the community can pull in more people who just want to draw and don’t care about the tech side.
But I’m wondering if updating nodes and installing custom plugins is convenient on the desktop version. Hope they didn’t gut the flexibility just to simplify things. Anyone who’s already installed it got any thoughts?
