Over the weekend I was messing around with both tools side by side, and my first thought wasn’t about which one is better—it’s that they make you work in completely different ways. DALL-E is more like a drawing app—you have to spell out every detail in your prompt, and if you’re not clear enough, it’ll spit out something totally jacked up.
My first cyberpunk sunset city came out as a blurry nightmare mess. Switching to MJ, you can throw in a vague idea and it actually runs with it, like having a buddy to help fill in the blanks. Later I described that sky castle, and the stone carving details and stained glass windows came out pretty fine.
Neither is perfect—it’s about whether you want control or surprises. If I’m doing a real project, I’d probably use DALL-E for rough drafts and MJ for the vibe, taking the best from each.
