Just ran some tests with Flux Krea Dev for realistic portrait generation, and the plastic skin look is finally way less noticeable.

Spent two days messing around with Flux Krea Dev, just jotting down some quick notes. This is the model Black Forest Labs cooked up with Krea—12B params, mainly aimed at fixing that fake plastic skin look and over-smoothing issue. I ran a batch of portraits with it, and the skin tones and natural light transitions are way smoother than the old Flux Dev. Also, generation speed is a bit faster.

The workflow itself isn’t hard to set up—just drag the official json into ComfyUI and you’re good to go. If you see red nodes, hit up Manager to install whatever’s missing. You’ll need these four models: flux1-krea-dev, t5xxl_fp32, clip_l, and ae. Heads up, that t5 fp32 is a VRAM hog. On my 24G card, it barely works; 48G would be way more comfortable. Don’t mess with the sampler or scheduler—stick with the defaults for the most stable results. I got cocky and swapped them once, and the image quality went straight to hell.

24G is enough to run it, 48G is just overkill.

Skin tone’s definitely improved, but the hands are still the same old mess.

Switching t5xxl from fp32 to fp8 saves half the VRAM, and honestly I can’t tell the difference in image quality.

Krea’s collab this time is actually legit — they really delivered.

Hey, how long does it take to generate one image on the turbo setting?

Don’t change the sampler +1, learned that the hard way.
