Caught a group member search LoRA tutorials and get a pile of IoT stuff, cracked me up. These two only differ by one letter’s capitalization, but they’re worlds apart. LoRa stands for Long Range, a wireless communication tech built for long range, low power, and low cost, used in stuff like environmental monitoring, agricultural sensors, smart meter reading — it’s not for transmitting high-def images, it solves the IoT need for “go far, transmit slow, save power.”
What we usually mean by LoRA is small-scale fine-tuning for large models, has literally nothing to do with the other one.
Next time you search, pay attention to capitalization and context, it’ll save you a lot of wasted effort.
