I tested Nano Banana 2 specifically on Chinese scenes, here’s my real take. For street signs, Spring Festival couplets, calligraphy—the text generation rate is way better than the previous version. Short words are mostly readable, but long sentences still drop characters, misalign, or mix simplified and traditional.
It handles traditional Chinese architecture and ink-wash vibes pretty well—the dougong brackets and flying eaves actually look more legit than some Western base models. For characters, East Asian faces no longer look like stereotypical Western depictions, which is a solid improvement.
But if I’m making a poster-level Chinese design, I’d still leave key text blank and add it later in design software—generating long Chinese text directly from the model is still unreliable.
