Logged in today and saw that Pika’s gone paid—two tiers, $10 and $60. Looks like the days of using it for free are over. For a student, the $10 tier is still kinda bearable if you grit your teeth, but that $60 one stings a bit—gotta see if the credits are actually worth it.
Video AI has always had high compute costs, so I knew deep down it was only a matter of time before they started charging. Still, now that it’s actually here, I’m a little bummed out. With more and more video generation options popping up, once they start charging, everyone’s gonna be way more serious about comparing how much each tier can generate and what the quality’s like.
Anyway, I’m gonna sit tight and wait to see what the first batch of paying users say before I decide.
