Prompt generators are definitely convenient—click a few times and you get a long string of fancy English, but the stuff they churn out has this weird “oil painting vibe” to it. You know, that cliché pile of trending on ArtStation, 8K, hyperdetailed, masterpiece—it’s so template-y you can spot it a mile away.

The problem is it doesn’t get what you actually want; it just stuffs in all the trending keywords. Now I use it as a starting point, keep the parts that actually describe the content, cut out all those generic fluff words, and then add in my own specifics about lighting, composition, and materials. It saves me some typing, but it doesn’t save me from having to make my own judgment calls.

I know exactly that oily look—just a bunch of “8k, masterpiece” tags slapped on, you can tell it’s bulk-generated from a generator.

I just kept the main subject description, cut out all the generic modifiers, and the images actually turned out closer to what I wanted.

Throwing in trending keywords isn’t totally useless sometimes—adding “hyperdetailed” to a realistic portrait does bump up the detail a bit.

It’s fine as a starting point, but you still have to handle the specifics like lighting, composition, and materials yourself—the machine can’t give you those.
