Been wanting to make a concept piece about psychological manipulation, that thing where someone accuses you, then flat-out denies it, then loops back around until you’re dizzy. Abstract emotion is the hardest thing to pin down visually — drawing an actual argument scene is too on-the-nose and ends up flat.
So instead I used repetition and mirroring to hint at a “loop”: the same pose repeated slightly off-register across the frame, the figure’s expression somewhere between a smile and not-a-smile, background pressed down with a cold gray to make it uncomfortable. Negative space and gaze direction are deliberately made a little off too, so the viewer’s gut tells them something’s wrong before their brain does.
A concept piece doesn’t need to be pretty, it needs to make people’s stomach drop a little. How do you usually turn abstract emotions into something visual for your concept work?
