As a teacher who takes kids drawing, I’ve got mixed feelings about shoving AI into youth competitions like this.

On one hand, it does lower the barrier—kids who can’t draw well can still get their ideas out there. On the other hand, I’m worried they’ll lean on the tools before they’ve built a solid foundation, and their eye for aesthetics and hands-on skills won’t develop properly.

I’m leaning towards using AI as a creative booster—let the kids sketch out their own composition and ideas first, then use the tools to help bring it to life. Curious how other art teachers feel about this trend.

I’m with you on kids building up their feel for it first—jumping into AI too early just makes them rely on it, and if they haven’t even nailed down basic shapes yet, leaning on AI to fill the gaps is a losing trade.
