Yo, Tencent's Hunyuan 3D just dropped another update. They're saying the generated models can go straight into game animations now.

Tencent’s Hunyuan 3D just leveled up again, and the big claim this time is that AI-generated 3D models can be used directly in games and animation.

For someone like me who does concept design, the real question boils down to “can I actually use it straight out of the box.” A lot of 3D generation tools before this would spit out models that look okay at first glance, but once you drag them into an engine or try to rig and animate them, the flaws show up—messy topology, insane poly counts, unusable UVs. In the end, you still have to have an artist retopo everything from scratch, which basically makes the whole generation pointless. If Hunyuan can really deliver assets that go straight into the pipeline this time, that’s a huge time-saver on rework.

The announcement itself is pretty light on details—nothing specific about topology quality, whether it can output clean low-poly models, or how UV-friendly and rig-friendly it is. I’m not gonna hype it up without proof. Has anyone here actually tried it out yet? How does it hold up when you import it into Blender or an engine? Especially the topology and UVs—that’s what decides whether this is just a toy or actual production-ready tool.

My biggest fear is that it looks usable on the surface, but once you open it up in the engine, it’s just a mess of terrible topology.

UV and rigging friendliness are what really matter. Anyone can pump out a high-poly model, but a low-poly one that actually fits the pipeline is where the real money’s at.

Same here, waiting for someone to actually test it.

If the topology is really clean, that’d be super useful for us during the concept phase to get the model out. Calling dibs for now.

The coverage always only talks about the good stuff—you gotta see what you’re actually feeding into the model.

Haha, I’m just gonna camp here and wait for updates.
